TORONTO — Cam Talbot did everything he could to help the Detroit Red Wings.

The 38-year-old parried pucks all afternoon Monday, Oct. 13, as the Wings played their second straight game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, this time at Scotiabank Arena. Talbot made 38 saves as the Wings prevailed, 3-2.

Mason Appleton scored on a rebound with 44.1 seconds on the clock, and the Wings (2-1) held off the Leafs' last push as they pulled their goalie.

The Wings had to play the second half of the game without top-line winger Lucas Raymond, who suffered an upper-body injury. Raymond assisted on Dylan Larkin's power-play goal in the first period.
