Oscar-winning actress Diane Keaton dies at the age of 79

Born in Los Angeles, Keaton rose to fame in the 1970s for her portrayal of Kay Adams-Corleone in The Godfather films.

She also gained recognition for her leading roles in Father of the Bride, The First Wives Club, and Annie Hall — the latter earning her the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1978.

Keaton’s death was confirmed to CBS News, the BBC’s U.S. partner, by her producer and close friend, Dori Rath.
